Eight people were injured, one critically, in a shooting Monday during a holiday car show in Fort Pierce, Florida, authorities said. NBC affiliate WPTV of West Palm Beach reported one of those four is a child. Sheriff's officials said it wasn't a mass shooting where victims were struck randomly by gunfire. WPTV reported the shooting was preceded by an argument between two people. The car show was listed as part of the city's Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration.

All things considered, some parents might be willing to overlook the cuddly robot’s shortcomings, such as a sarcastic streak and a tendency to commit homicide. “M3gan,” a mildly scary movie built around a valid underlying fear, became a social-media phenomenon months before it was released thanks to the killer dance moves exhibited by its title figure. Bored by the demands of a small child and pressured by her volcanically demanding boss ( Ronny Chieng ) to create a next-level toy, Gemma solves both problems by programming a lifelike ambulatory doll that, learning from feedback, can read emotions and take part in spontaneous conversations exhibiting real emotional intelligence. Within a distressingly short period of time, however, M3gan starts to turn self-aware, posing questions like, “Will I die?”

Twenty people who were on a Hawaiian Airlines flight near Honolulu suffered significant injuries when the jetliner bucked violently in a patch of turbulent air Sunday, officials said. The aircraft was at capacity, with 278 passengers, eight flight attendants and two pilots on board, when the incident shook it enough to damage interior panels and cause head injuries for multiple people, Hawaiian Airlines officials said. Flight 35 was at a cruising altitude of 36,000 feet when it hit the patch, Hawaiian Airlines Chief Operating Officer Jon Snook said at a news conference Sunday. Fasten seat belt lights were on at the time, but at least some of the injured were not restrained properly, airlines officials said. Such a level of turbulence has not affected a Hawaiian Airlines flight since the century began, Snook said.
